Summary Of An Amputee And A Homeless By Brian Lloyd...

In contrary to the one the public knows him for now (i.e. an amputee and a homeless), Brian Lloyd Sinclair, according to his sister Esther, was a boy who is always well-groomed, aspires to be a lawyer, loves to help his mother cook and wash the kitchen floors, and explores the beach with his close-knit cousins (Carreiro, 2014). Here, it is clear to see how family remains significant and coextensive with the lives and values of the First Nations community as it becomes the core of their identity. Hearing these good memories of him, it is hard to imagine how this child with a loving personality full of hopes and dreams turned into a man in his iconic photograph who is a poignant homeless amputee and a substance abuser. Unfortunately, all these blissful events did not last long. Life went on and some bad things happened that really destroyed him as a person. First, is when his parents got separated when he was about 12-13 years old; His mom was a residential school survivor and her copi ng mechanism was unfortunately being â€Å"drank to excess† (Carreiro, 2014). He was then placed into foster care while his father tried to rebuild a life for them in Winnipeg and was eventually sent to a CFS-run semi-wilderness group home for troubled Aboriginal teens when he was 14. Some people may be confused thinking that he let himself wait for 34 hours without acting out or aggressively confronting the HSC staffs.
